Accounts are back!! Please read me.

Sorry about that. There were some problems in the transition from our old server setup to our new one. I think we've got the bugs worked out now. Oops?

If you signed up for an account back when we were having major spam problems, you never did get to log in and get at the free music collection. Well, we've got our new server infrastructure up and running so you can now go and sign up, get an email validation and log in.

The free music section is back too! We've got a couple of other new things coming online soon, so stay tuned.

And we're back!

Our server monkies have been hard at work getting the server all fixed up and running, and it seems that we've finally got the spit, duct tape and binder twine in alignment, and we're back up on the air. Thanks everyone for your patience during this transition time.

Impending server down time,...

monkey fixing server

RFP HQ is moving! We will be moving into our new digs sometime this weekend, and it may be a week or two before we get everything set back up again. Our server monkies will be working night and day to get RFP back up and streaming. In the meantime, you can still listen to RFP on Trent Radio - 92.7 FM in Peterborough and area.

More networking fun = stream server outage....again!

One of the joys of running entirely on spit and duct tape is the constant battle with networks, switches, routers, cables and all the computer gear that ties them all together. Sometimes, the spring goes 'sproing' and things grind to a halt. Sorry for the outage folks, and things should be back to normal now.

Five years already!?!?

Boy how time flies when you're having fun! July 24th 2009 marks five years of Radio Free Peterborough on the air! This has been a slow year, with most of the project's features in a holding pattern. The Free Music section of the website got taken down because of some bandwidth hogs, we lost a few friends, and made some new ones.

Stream server outage resolved

Sorry about that folks - a networking snafu here at RFP HQ prevented access to the stream server for a few days. Everything is back online now. Oops..

R.I.P. Al Kirkcaldy

We mourn the passing of Peterborough's own Al Kirkcaldy. Al lost his battle with cancer last thursday night (20 Feb 2009) and will be missed by all who knew him. Our sincere condolences to Al's loved ones - he was a true champion of Live Music in Peterborough.

Happy Birthday to us!!

24 July 2008 marks our fourth birthday as a project here at RFP. Hard to believe!

Thanks to everyone who has helped us get this far, and who continue to help us out when things get tough. Special thank you mentions to Brian Sanderson for his continued excellence, Jill Staveley for her tireless work with Trent Radio and sending us lots of great tracks, and to John K. Muir - GM of Trent Radio for all of his help.

And... we're back! Stream server back online

After much gnashing of teeth, touring with rock musicians, replacing of broken motherboard, adding some additional storage space and rebuilding the Linux kernel manually a few times I've finally got the darned stream server back up and running. We still have to bring up the historical feature artist streams, but all the main streams are now up and running normally.

Stream Server Update: Slowly but surely...

Well folks, we've been off the air from RFP HQ (still on the air from Trent Radio) for a while now - our main stream server failed. However, I am making progress in bringing the dead server back from the other side. After some surgery and parts replacements, it turns out that the onboard network card is not recognized by any of the different Linux distributions I tried, and I have no floppy drive on that machine with which to inject drivers during the install. Whee.
